Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are a popular option for non-invasive facial rejuvenation due to convenience and the high degree of anti-aging effectiveness that dermal fillers provide.  These non-surgical treatments are an excellent choice to address the signs of aging such as moderate to severe lines, wrinkles, and volume loss.  As we age, our body decreases the production of elastin, collagen and hyaluronic acid which proteins that play a critical role in our youthful appearance by keeping our skin tight, firm, and hydrated.  Our skin begins to decline as the production of these proteins is reduced.  Dermal fillers can be used to drastically improve and smooth the appearance of the wrinkles and folds around the mouth area.  Volume can also be restored to facial tissues to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles as well as create fuller, improved lips.  Dermal fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid which is a naturally-occurring sugar in the body.  Many patients are able to improve these age related cosmetic concerns by rejuvenating the face for a more youthful appearance.

Dermal Fillers Can:

  • Correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds
  • Add volume and fullness to sagging facial tissues
  • Augment and contour the lips
  • Create a more youthful, rejuvenated facial appearance

Day of Treatment

A topical numbing agent may be applied to the skin prior to treatment to minimize any discomfort during the treatment.  The dermal filler is strategically injected in the targeted area with a very fine needle.  The solution is composed of hyaluronic acidand lidocaine, a local anesthetic to further reduce patient discomfort.  Depending on the number of areas being treated the treatment usually does not last more than 30 minutes.  Due to how quick and simple injectable treatments are patients find it incredibly easy to fit their injectable treatments in their timetable.

Dermal Filler Recovery

Dermal filler treatments have zero downtime and regular, daily activities can be resumed immediately following treatment.  Ice can be utilized before and after treatment to alleviate any discomfort.  Rarely, a patient may experience mild redness or swelling at the injection site.  However, these symptoms typically resolve themselves quickly.
