Facial Fat Transfer Minneapolis
Advances in cosmetic surgery have made it possible to fill in facial wrinkles and add volume to the face by transferring your own fat cells from another location on your body. Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. George Landis offers this revolutionary procedure, called facial fat transfer or facial fat grafting, to rejuvenate your face. During this procedure, Dr. Landis harvests donor fat from another area of the body and transplants the fat to the face to fill in lines, rejuvenate the eyes, and improve the facial contours. Many of his patients prefer this natural alternative to dermal fillers.
Fat injection can:
- Correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds
- Add volume and fullness to sagging facial tissues including around the eyes
- Augment and contour the lips
- Create a more youthful, rejuvenated facial appearance

Our Customized Approach
During your facial fat grafting consultation, Dr. Landis will assess if you are a candidate for a fat transfer procedure. One critical piece of criteria that is used to determine candidacy is whether you have ample donor fat in another area of your body, such as the abdomen or thighs. After performing a thorough exam, Dr. Landis will recommend what facial fat grafting procedure options would be best to address your cosmetic concerns. Dr. Landis will provide a detailed individual approach based on your unique anatomy to achieve optional results.
Day of Fat Transfer Treatment
Fat transfer procedures are completed in two stages. First, Dr. Landis will determine the best harvest area to use for the procedure. Once this has been determined, an anesthetic will be used on the donor area to eliminate any discomfort during the procedure. Dr. Landis will strategically create a small incision and carefully extract fat using liposuction techniques. Once Dr. Landis is confident that enough harvested fat has been obtained, he will purify the fat by utilizing a centrifuge or a filter to remove impurities. The fat will get transferred into small syringes to prepare for facial injections.
The face will be cleansed, and a numbing cream will be applied to reduce discomfort. Dr. Landis will then methodically inject the body fat into the areas of concern until the desired correction has been achieved.
