Forget serums and creams, it is your fat that holds the key to ageless beauty. Although fat has a bad reputation in some circles, in the right quantities and in the right locations, fat offers the body dramatic potential for rejuvenation. To help get your fat to those areas where it will be most beneficial, we use a procedure called a fat transfer.
Could a fat transfer help you achieve your aesthetic goals?
What Is a Fat Transfer?
Have you ever wished that you could have less fat on your tummy, but more fat in your cheeks? Moving fat from one area to another is the basic premise behind a fat transfer procedure. Dr. Landis extracts fat from an area with excess and moves it into an area that could benefit from extra volume, often the face.
As you age, facial volume shifts downward. Formerly full cheeks can lose youthful fat and become thinner and gaunt. Hollows may develop under the eyes. Volume loss accentuates wrinkles and creases, making them more visible. Adding fat back into the face erases many of these common signs of aging.
Transferred fat will integrate into your facial tissues over time, adding lasting volume. Many patients will enjoy near-permanent results from a single treatment.
Why Fat Transfer Is One of Your Best Options for Rejuvenation
Fat transfer is one of our favorite options for rejuvenation. Here’s why:
- Minimal Downtime – Fat transfer allows patients to rejuvenate and get back to life quickly. Downtime is minimal and many patients will only need a day or two off from work. Side effects are also minimal and resolve within the first couple of weeks.
- Versatile – From hollows under the eyes to a loss of volume in the cheeks, fat transfer is highly versatile. We use this treatment to rejuvenate many areas of the face. It can also be paired with surgical treatments, like a facelift, to enhance and extend the results.
- Long-Lasting – Come in for treatment once and enjoy a lifetime of benefit. Fat transfer offers patients long-lasting volume with results that last years longer than a typical filler treatment.
Looking for a Non-Surgical Alternative? Consider Fillers Instead
Fat transfer uses your own fat to volumize and revitalize your facial appearance. The fat is extracted from the body using liposuction techniques. Since we’re only extracting a small amount of fat, recovery times are minimal for most patients, usually less than a standard liposuction procedure. Most patients have some tenderness and bruising for a few days and are back to full activity within two weeks.
While downtime is minimal after a fat transfer, some patients would like to avoid missing work entirely. These patients can enjoy many of the benefits of a fat transfer with a non-surgical dermal filler treatment. Injectable hyaluronic acid fillers are used in place of fat to restore facial volume and recreate youthful contours. Results from fillers won’t last as long as a fat transfer, but if you opt for fillers, no downtime is needed.
